One Sweet Family

Yesterday I went to the capital, Tegucigalpa, with Marlon and his parents. This was one of his last appointments in Tegus before we schedule his first surgery. We have collected all of the diagnostic exams, attended all of our appointments and now we have even been granted permission to continue forward with this frist surgery from his pediatric cardiologist. None of this would have been possible without God. He has orchestrated it all, and as an added blessing he has given Marlon's mother, Juana, an extra helping of super-mom powers. Wilmer and Juana know their son well. They understand his gibberish talk, they know exactly what he wants (or doesn't want) when he makes this one very peculiar whiny sound, and most importantly they know how to make him laugh. Wilmer and Juana love their son and it is evident.

Over the past few months of attending doctors appointments, attending diagnostic appointments, and sleeping in the hospital with Juana and Marlon I have learned a few things about Marlon as well. Here are a few of the important ones...

He likes...
1. to ride in cars.
2. to pretend that he is a cat.
3. it when I make the fishy face to distract him.
4. to eat fried chicken for a "good doctor's visit" reward.

He doesn't like...
1. doctors
2. doctor's offices
3. cold medical instruments... or really any instruments at all.
4. or pretty much anything to do with the combination of doctors, their offices, or their medical instruments!

Marlon and his parents are troopers! They love God, they love each other, and I am so blessed to be involved in their lives.

thanks for presenting little Marlon and his family to us on a personal level with a bit of what makes him happy, what makes him sad; a precious little boy and a loving family... I pray for mountains of blessings on this family.
