On Saturday afternoon, Marlon Herrera was discharged from the hospital and sent home to recuperate. I'm pretty sure the angels rejoiced! I know I did. I let out a "Whoopee!" and did a little celebration dance! I remain in awe of God's faithfulness. The progress that Marlon has made seems surreal. It seems impossible that we could have attained such an outcome for him, and yet I always knew that we would, because I knew that God could!
Marlon Herrera, a little boy, from a one-room mud house in the middle of nowhere, born with all odds against him has survived five years with severe congenital defects. His family has struggled to care for him and provide for him when they had nothing. During these past five years they have hoped and prayed for a miracle; that their baby boy would be healthy. That he would have the energy and ability to run and play like other boys his age. That he would go to school and learn to read and write; something that his parents cannot do. They hope to see him grow up, to become a good man who loves God and who will care for his family. With this second surgery complete a chapter of Marlon's life has been brought to a close, and his parents are one step closer to seeing their dreams come true.
Please continue to keep Marlon in your prayers as he recovers at home and offer a prayer of thanksgiving, because God is good! Please also be in prayer about his future. With two surgeries down, we now need a US hospital to accept Marlon for open-heart surgery.
God is faithful, I know He has heard our petitions and I know He will continue to do the impossible!
"Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds." Psalms 36:5
