An egg education...

Create Your Own

Did you know that one egg contains at least 6 grams of complete protein? In fact, the American Egg Board says that egg protein is of such high quality that it is a standard against which other proteins are compared.

Equipped with this knowledge, the Mission Lazarus Nutrition Program has taken it one step further. Why provide eggs in the bi-monthly food provisions when we can provide chickens which lay eggs daily? When a child is admitted into the Nutrition Program they receive protein rich food provisions, vitamins, medical treatment and four pretty hens! Not only do we strive to improve the nutritional status of each child, but we are also looking for sustainable interventions that can maintain each child's nutritional status long after they have graduated from the Nutrition Program.

Don't eat the chicken though.

That's right! There are rules about these things, you know... No eating the chicken until you have reproduced one to replace it.
