My favorite brother is now my favorite intern... but don't tell the others!

That's right folks, my baby brother David is now a Mission Lazarus Intern in Honduras! David, and 7 other summer interns made the trip from various locations in the US to lovely Honduras this past Monday!

Chad, Shelly and I were ready and waiting when the interns arrived. The airport in Tegus continues to become more technologically advanced every time I go to pick someone up. This time we found that they have placed cameras in immigation and customs so that you can see your family member, and their progress through the immigration/customs process before they come through to the door to greet you. Shelly and I stood staring at the screens searching for David. I would say, "Oh, maybe that's him... no... Oh, maybe there, no..." After a few minutes of guessing, Shelly asked me, "What does he look like?" I replied, "Oh, he'll be the tall kid." Shelly and I scanned the screens some more, and then all of a sudden Shelly said, "there, right there... that kid looks tall, you can't see his head but it might be him!" Shelly was right, you couldn't see this guy's head, but I knew immediately that it was him. David was easily identified by his long feet and the flip flops that I had bought him last year! So Shelly and I continued to watch Daivd go through the long process that is immigration and customs as Chad went in to the customs area (we get special passes now) to help the interns gather their stuff. When David finally came out, he was of course greeted with a big embarrassing hug in front of all his new comrades!

The interns got settled in that night, and had orientation the next morning. Wednesday and today they have been going on a very extensive tour of all the Mission Lazarus projects. Tomorrow starts their first day on the job. David will be working at the ranch. I am sure that involves lots of fun things like hearding cattle and shoveling horse manure... maybe even measuring the growth progress of beans!... who knows!?!

The interns are required to each right one blog per week, so be sure to check out the following blogs to keep up with David and the other interns!
